My favorite time of the year is when the Girl Scouts sell their cookies! It takes me back to when I was in the Girl Scouts and selling my cookies to friends and family. They also looked forward to it every year and I would get orders before the event so it was nice to know I had a great selling product that people loved to buy. The Girl Scouts taught me lots of things about my community as well as about myself. I learned to have more confidence and also some valuable selling as well as marketing skills. I was the #cookieboss! My nieces were also in the Girl Scouts and you better believe I had my order in ahead of time as I wanted those Thin Mints! My favorite cookie and still is even today!

Girl Scouts is kicking off National Girl Scout Cookie Weekend starting February 7-8, 2014! You can get your cookie fix in but also this is a chance for everyone to learn what valuable life skills these girls can learn and help out her own local community. They earn badges but also about money, business, helping others and so much more. It is wonderful for the girls, the leaders, and the community involved. Plus you can find out where you can buy the cookies in your area! Help another little girl to become the #cookieboss while teaching her long life skills she will never forget and pass on in the future.

I know it’s cheaper to make your own cake, but lately I will be honest I am short on time. Between the recent move, school full-time, the house renovations and working my time is precious to me. I am not much of a baker. My mom loves it but again it is too chaotic. I really do order a lot of my son’s birthday cakes at the Walmart bakery. Bakery Crafts makes a delicious cake and have several choices from sheet cakes to even festive cupcake cakes. I really love those cupcake cakes as they look like a cake but you can order more than flavor if you want.

My son picked out the Batman theme which came with the iconic Bat Mobile and his other vehicle plus a ring he can wear. It was well decorated and we received 24 cupcakes with half chocolate and the other half vanilla. It covers all the people who may like chocolate and not white cake and vice versa. I also got the butterceam whipping which tastes like homemade icing. It is really delicious!

The Batman Car has Batman inside. You can see him sitting inside. My son thought this was too cool.

My son was thrilled with his cake, and he had a little trouble blowing out all of his candles which was funny. He was able to have his friends hang out with him and had fun playing with the cake decorations and the ring. They have a wonderful choice of Cake Kits to order from but my son has always been a fan of Batman. I love ordering the licensed cakes as he can pick out his favorite character which usually changes from year to year. I would definitely buy another cake from them again and have several times. The cake is affordable and again it’s nice to call my order in and have it ready to be picked up before the party. The cake is fresh and very tasty. I loved the chocolate cupcakes as I found the cake to be very moist and the icing was so good. None of them lasted and everyone kept commenting on how good the cupcakes were and also the icing. My son is all about the icing and I received 2 BIG thumbs up from him.

With so many of us on the go these days, many people have dropped their land  line and just use their cell phone. I know I get more calls on my cell phone than my land line, but many times I misplace my cell phone as I can't always keep it with me while cooking or cleaning. It gets to be a pain and sometimes there is a dead spot in my house where the cell phone may not be used. That is so frustrating.

The quality was crystal clear and she did not even realize I wasn't chatting on my cell phone. I never dropped the call which can be a problem many times when I am moving around the house. My son was super excited to receive Hasbro TRANSFORMERS CONSTRUCT-BOTS Soundwave to build. Of course he enlisted his Dad immediately to help him build it as he grew up on Transformers as a kid. He did not have cool toys like this to build of his favorite characters. The kit includes all of the pieces needed to build it including armor and weapons they can play with. What is even cooler is that it converts from robot to vehicle which will provide kids with hours of fun. My son loves to build and take things apart so this is a great toy for him. The kids can take it a step further if they want by creating their own Transformer character especially if they have more than one kit. They can also name their new creation and perhaps a new vehicle. The options are endless which allows the kids to build and then transform and with their friends and even their parents. I know my son and husband had a lot of fun building it together and then playing. It’s a great toy for kids of ALL ages!

The Soundwave kit came with 64 pieces but I love that it comes in a carrying case so they won’t lose any pieces if they decide to take it apart. The instructions clearly show with pictures step by step on how to build the bots which you can see in my pictures above and below. This is for ages 6 and up that I think kids will  enjoy building and can always get a little adult help if they get stuck on a step. My son did not as much help but his dad still had fun trying to help him build it. Again I love that the kit comes with a carrying case as I do NOT like to step on pieces in the middle of the night. Not fun so I would highly encourage your kiddos to pick up any spare parts in the case.

My son is at that age where he is not playing with as many toys as he did, but he still loves to build things which makes this a great toy for his age group. He can’t wait to collect more. American Girl became popular in the 1990’s and my nieces all had at least one doll. When the original Bitty Baby Doll first appeared, they also had to have own. These dolls are very well made and easy to play with and mimic a real doll as their eyes close when laid down. You can change them and they also come with a diaper. The problem with the dolls was that it didn’t offer many options. Some girls probably felt left out as their dolls really didn’t look like them.

American Girl received that message and has revamped the entire line for 2013 and have added more options to customize the Bitty Baby doll. There are 11 yes eleven options with light skin to dark skin and different eye plus hair color combinations. I was able to make my own and I choose light skin, brown hair, and green eyes as I think my daughter would have looked more like me. The doll is gorgeous. I wished I had a daughter as she would definitely have one of her own! These are dolls that will last for years. My nieces are now in college and still have their dolls.

Each doll is made from soft cloth body and and her head and limbs are made of smooth vinyl. Each one is 15″ tall and they come with:

A white sleeper with scattered pink stars and a mock-wrap neckline trimmed with a ribbon ruffle
A soft cloth diaper
A hardcover Bitty Baby and Me picture book that brings her story to life
A sparkly wishing star, just like the one from her book

The price tag is $80 but I know these dolls are well made and my nieces still love their dolls. They plan on passing them down to their own children one day. You cannot put a price tag on that.
