My Shopping Haul for April 22nd & Lots of Freebies!

shopping-haul-april

I realize I’m posting my great shopping haul a week late. I had so many posts to do last week that I am now finally making time to share. I did have a great shopping trip last weekend. I snagged two freebies from Bath and Body Works.

Then I went to Walmart and bought 2 Schick Hydro Silk Razors with the bonus shaving cream at $5.97 – $4/1 Coupon for $1.97 each! I paid less than $5 for both. These will make great Christmas presents.

At CVS I bought the Children’s Allergy Liquid on sale for $5.99 and I had a $5 off any Allergy medication so 99 cents!
shopping-trip-april

At Dollar General I picked up the Nivea Body Wash for $2.50 each and had (2) $2 Coupons so total was $1.09 with tax!

Back to CVS I bought the following Gillette Items to receive $10 ECB. Fusion Razor ($5 coupon); Venus Razor ($2 coupon); Fusion Shaving Cream ($1 coupon) and Gillette Body Wash ($1 coupon)= $22 after coupons and I had $8 ECB to roll in so I paid $15 with tax. I received my $10 ECB and I can use the Venus Razor for the P&G $15 Rebate!

I went to Target and did really well! I found 6 boxes of the Clairol Nice-N-Easy on clearance for $5.94 each. Each box had the bonus Pantene color protecting shampoo. I had the $5/2 coupons and I had 3 of them. I had the Band-Aid $2/1 coupon so I received the $2.64 for 64 cents and bought a Revlon nail clipper for FREE! I stacked the $2/1 Target tool coupon with a $1/1 MFR so I got 3 cents overage. I paid $21.xx with tax as I used my Red Card for an extra 5% off my total which paid for half my tax. I have that rebate for the $15 cash back! Between the Gillette Deal and this hair color deal minus rebate- I paid about $20 for all of it. Not too shabby. I have 6 boxes of hair color for $3.25 each or 50%. I also have shaving cream, razors for ourselves, and body wash. I am very happy as I saved over 50%. I got a catalina from Target for $3/1 Revlon which I can combine with a $2/1 MFR. I love Target and CVS!

Last but not least was Walgreens. I broke that trip into two transactions since I didn’t have any Register Rewards. It’s so much to list so in the picture you can see I bought Lysol, Ivory, Dawn, Nivea, Purex, Colgate, Simalison, Toothpaste, Goody hair bands, Aquafresh toothpaste, and Opti-Free contact lens saline solution. That stuff is not cheap so I was thrilled to see it on sale with the $1.50 coupon so $7 for a box. Not great but cheaper than the $9.xx I normally would pay. Yes I wear soft so I have to use better brands. I have expensive air-optix as I have astigmatism in one eye.

None of it was FREE but I did pay $14 on one transaction and $20 on the other. I have $6.50 in Register Rewards. I had coupons for the majority of the sale stuff. I was happy to get the Nivea so cheap especially the shaving cream. I ended up paying $2/3 so a $1.50 a can! It was $2/7 – (2)$2/2= $2/3! Hey the cheap shaving cream is $1.64 or more a can! This was actually cheaper for a much better brand. Now hubby is set on shaving cream and body wash. I have lots of laundry detergent. I love those paks so easy to use in a front loader. I love the perfume-free detergents. I was able to pay for all of it with a FREE $50 gift card I won! That was even better.

So did anyone score some of these great deals last week?

Or did you score any this week?

I am going shopping tomorrow for this week’s sale items!

TMR Frugal Living Tip #97 – Rain Checks

Get Rain Checks

Today’s thrifty living tip is to get rain checks on sale items. The best part is most rainchecks will NEVER expire! So you can hold onto them until another hot coupon comes out.

Another tip is to clip out the sale price from the sales flyer and keep it with your rain check. This way you have more proof of the sale price and shows a picture of the item which makes it easier when redeeming a raincheck.

*Note: Some sales will put a disclaimer saying NO RAINCHECKS so you have to respect it. I pretty much am always able to get one just by asking even at grocery stores. I have never tried it at Walmart so not sure. If you have gotten one at Walmart, then please share.

Do you ask for rain checks?

My CVS Shopping Trip Today (4/18)

CVS Deals 4/18

I didn’t do outstanding and get everything for free or even close to free on my CVS shopping trip today. I didn’t have many ECB’s to use and I had my son with me who was sick today. It was his turn so we were picking up his prescription while I did a little shopping. I paid for my purchase out of pocket, but I wanted to have some ECB’s to roll over for the future sales. I am constantly rolling old ECB’s into new ones. If I really would have had the time, then I would have sat there with several purchases, but like I said my son wasn’t feeling too hot and it was kinda crowded.

*Quick Note: I promise to write a guide soon on coupons, shopping at CVS and Walgreen’s very soon! I will explain a couple of quick things.

  • ECB= ExtraCare Buck (you MUST have a CVS Extra Care Card to get them)
  • ExtraCare Buck are those special sales advertised like Buy xxx for $3 and receive a $2 ECB
  • You use them just like cash. They do have expiration dates.
  • Promise now you will ALWAYS scan that card under the scanner machine when at CVS. You never know what great coupon will print.
  • The other great thing about CVS is you can stack their store coupons with manufacturer coupons to get stuff for FREE or almost free!
  • You can do the exact same thing with Walgreens and Target.
  • Walgreens Register Rewards are just like ECB. They actually copied CVS. They used to have a rebate form you had to fill out and mail in monthly.

Now back to my trip for today. I spent $33 exactly today. Yes it was all out of pocket, but now I have $8 in ECB’s to use for the next trip. My store was out of the Free Natural Relief medicine. I am debating if I want to buy anything for the $10 ECB wyb $30 in Gillette, Venus, and Olay. I think I will as there is a printable rebate online for $15 back (not on Gillette but on Venus, Olay, and others).

I did buy $20 worth of Scott’s toilet paper and the coupons I had were for the natural rolls only and the soft. I did get my free laundry detergent. My cashier wouldn’t take my $1 off  Wisk since I was getting it FREE and she’s become a friend so I let it go. Technically she’s right, but she did make a funny comment  about how bloggers say CVS cashiers take the coupon but we aren’t supposed to. She knows I blog so I had to laugh at that one. 🙂

  • 3 rolls of Scott’s Soft toilet paper
  • 1 FREE Wisk Detergent for HE
  • 1 Cottonelle Roll Cover
  • 2 Right Guard deodorants
  • 2 Colgate Advanced Toothpaste

Now I have $8 worth of ExtraCare Bucks for the next purchase. I still need to buy the Natural Pain Reliever and some other sale items. At some point I was going to spend money out of pocket as I didn’t have any bucks. I could have rolled the $2 ones several times to still have $2. I did have $2 from my quarterly savings. I was happy to get a $9 bottle of detergent FREE and I always need toilet paper which was still a good sale price. Walmart is over $10 for a 12 pack. I still feel I saved a good bit of money today. My receipt says I saved a total of $29.67 with sales and coupons! I will get back to the days where I was paying less than $5 for all my items.

What did you buy this week at CVS?

Quick Question for everyone. I am going to start doing weekly match-up’s for the stores that I have.

Would anyone be interested in a list that you check the deals you want and can print the list out? I hate to buy an app that no one would use.

The stores I will do weekly match-up’s will be:

  • CVS
  • Walgreens
  • Walmart
  • Target
  • Rite-Aid
  • Dollar General
  • Family Dollar
  • Big Lots

I wished I had more national chain supermarkets but the ones near me all shut down. I miss Delchamp’s.
