Today’s thrifty living tip is use baking soda for a nice soak. It makes your skin so soft and it’s really great for tired feet. I have even used it as a facial scrub. I find it to be gentle on your skin, but still be careful not to rub too hard. Actually baking soda has many great uses, and I will discuss more tips in the near future. What do you use to soak your tired achy feet?
Another alternative is to use a little hairspray on either a toothbrush or those little brushes. I actually have that little eyebrow brush that cost me a couple of bucks. Sometimes I can just brush my eyebrows right before spraying my hair, and I purposely make sure that a fine mist will hit my eyebrows.
I find any of these work very well, but I like the last one the best so they don’t feel so stiff.
What do you use to keep your eyebrows in place?
Aloe vera is great to use on: scrapes, insect bites, stings, cuts, burns and especially a sunburn. You can also use it for acne and patches of eczema.
All you have to do is cut off a small piece and squeeze out the gel to apply on the affected area. If you know someone that already has a plant, then ask for a couple of shoots. I have mine in a pot on a sunny windowsill inside my house. They are very easy to grow, and require little water since it’s part of the cactus family.
Do you own an aloe vera plant?
Today’s thrifty tip is to use sugar to exfoliate hands! Yep plain white sugar works great and is very inexpensive.
You will be amazed at how soft your hands will feel afterwards. I use this hand treatment once a week.
First I squeeze out a small amount of hand lotion (Vaseline Intensive Care works great) into one hand. Then I add a small amount of white sugar.
Next rub your hands together as if you are washing your hands. Do not get them wet at this point! The sugar has to really work into your skin first. I rub my hands for about 2-3 minutes.
Finally rinse your hands under warm water and pat dry with a soft towel.
Many companies are now making similar products at a not so affordable price. I will stick to using plain white sugar to exfoliate hands.
I get lots of compliments on how nice and soft my hands look and feel. My husband also uses this treatment as his hands get rough from his job. He has a very physically demanding job.
NOTE: Please do not use this method on your face. Your body and even feet would be fine. Your face is too sensitive.

I have been using a new cleansing product called FaceDoctor soap. This is the best soap I’ve ever used, and my face is so clear that I still can’t believe it. I started using it over a month ago, and I no longer have blemishes or red blotches on my cheeks. I also had eczema along my jawline, but it no longer itches or bothers me. I have always had acne prone most of my life. I have tried pretty much everything including ProActiv. That worked for awhile but then stopped after a couple of months plus it was pretty expensive. My skin is so smooth and doesn’t feel like an oil slick after a few hours anymore. I just wash in the morning and at night before bed. They also make a nice moisturizer with the same ingredient Seabuckthorn oil, which is the main ingredient, that helps clear up your skin. This soap is also great for people with Rosacea. I haven’t tried the moisturizer yet so I will update when I do.
Not everyone will have the same results, but more people that I recommended it to are having the same great results I am. You also need to leave it on for 30 seconds before rinsing. I also use it on my arms or anywhere on my body I have red bumps, and it has cleared them all up quickly. I still do breakout but it clears up within a day or two instead of several days. The pimples are usually very small and not painful like in the past.
The only con I have had is the skin is a bit drying. This is not a problem for me as I have oily skin especially in the T-Zone. If you have dry skin, then this might not be a good soap to use.
I found a seller on ebay that sells it, and also Amazon has a 2 pack deal with free shipping. The one I use has a lady on the front called FaceDoctor RX Chinese Rejuvenating Soap 100g. The two pack on Amazon is selling for $19.93 so you will have to put in a cheap item to get the Free Shipping of $25 or more. It might seem a little pricey at $10/bar but it will last 3-4 months. I only use it twice a day when I had a breakout so now I mainly use it at night before bedtime. I use Clinique Redness Solutions kit for my moisturizer and cleanser. You can also get a Free Sample on their website but s/h is $7US. You can view the site in the US, CAN, or UK so just click on your flag. I have the US Site below.
If you do get a bar, then please leave a comment on how it works for you.
