Toys “R”Us, Hasbro and Duracell are teaming up to celebrate Family Game Night. Whether it’s a rainy day, cool evening or a night that the whole family is together, pulling out a board game is a great way to enjoy some quality family time together.
I received Operation, Simon Says and a pack of Duracell batteries from Hasbro and Toys “R” Us! In this world of video, computer and phone apps, summer is a great time to unplug. While Family Game night is all about having “fun,” it also promotes essential skills, helps kids build self-confidence and creates lasting memories. Long before we had video games and cell phones, we would sit around and spend family time together playing board games. This was so nice to share this with my own son and brought back fond memories of my childhood. I actually never played Simon Says when I was a kid so it was really fun playing it. Of course my son broke my high score of 12 and has it set to 17! I can’t still beat it but it is fun just trying.
We all played the newer version of Operation that has wider slots and I remember how hard the original one was. I liked hearing it buzz and watching his red nose light up. This game is also fun and great for younger kids with smaller hands. I think it was easier for my mom to play as well as she had more trouble with the original game. We had a great time playing these games and will continue to make Friday nights Family Game Time.
