7 Shopping Hacks That’ll Save You Good Money at Kohl’s

Are you looking for Kohl’s shopping hacks?

With so many ways to save, Kohl’s makes it easy to save money every time you shop. If you pay full price for your purchase, you’re likely missing out on the many different coupons, rewards, and other shopping hacks available to Kohl’s shoppers.

Keep reading to learn seven money-saving hacks for shopping at Kohl’s.

1. Stack Coupons

When you learn how to coupon at Kohls, you can save a lot of money on your purchases.

Kohl’s regularly puts out coupons of different types, including a percentage off your total and a dollar-off amount on a purchase, such as $10 off a $50 purchase. For online purchases, you can usually get a free shipping code if you spend a certain amount of money.

Sign up for Kohl’s emails to get extra coupons beyond what Kohl’s offers in their weekly ads. You’ll get a 15 percent off coupon just for signing up for the emails. The emails also alert you to special sales and may sometimes include extra coupons.

Kohl’s lets you stack several of these coupon options on a single purchase to save you more.

When shopping online, you can combine:

  • Sitewide percentage-off coupon codes
  • Department-specific coupons
  • Rewards such as Kohl’s Cash or Yes2You Rewards
  • Free shipping codes

The stacked savings can significantly lower your total.

2. Sign Up for the Kohl’s Credit Card

If you’re a frequent Kohl’s shopper, signing up for the Kohl’s Charge card is an option for saving more money.

You receive 35 percent off of the first purchase you charge to your card. You’ll also get special offers only available to Kohl’s Charge cardholders throughout the year. The special coupons are usually a higher percentage than the coupons sent to people without the card.

To actually save money with this option, you’ll want to pay off your balance right away before interest starts adding up. Keeping a balance on the card means you’re paying interest that will cancel out the savings you get by using the special deals.

3. Use Kohl’s Cash

Kohl’s Cash is a special offer the store has several times each year. During the promotion, you’ll get $10 in Kohl’s Cash for every $50 you spend.

If you spend $100, you’ll earn $20 in Kohl’s Cash. A $200 purchase would earn you $40.

The period for earning Kohl’s Cash runs for a limited time. You can then redeem any Kohl’s Cash you earn during a set period after that. You might be able to redeem the Kohl’s Cash for 10 days after the expiration date depending on the store.

Kohl’s Cash can be used with other coupons and discount options to save even more.

You can earn Kohl’s cash on purchases made in stores or online. Your entire purchase typically counts for earning Kohl’s Cash, even if you’re buying sale or clearance items.

4. Join the Yes2You Rewards Program

Anyone can join Kohl’s Yes2You Rewards. This free program earns you one point per $1 you spend at Kohl’s.

Once you earn 100 points, you get a $5 reward. So for every $100 you spend, you get a $5 reward. You can check your progress in the Kohl’s app.

You’ll get the rewards on the first of the month. You then have 30 days to use them.

Just like Kohl’s Cash, you can combine the Yes2You Rewards with other coupons and discount options.

5. Ask for Price Matching and Price Adjustments

If you have your eye on something at Kohl’s, check out the prices at other stores. Kohl’s will match those prices as long as the competitor has a physical location and isn’t a strictly online retailer.

The price-matching policy excludes some brands, so you might not always get the lower price. You also can’t use any percent-off or dollar-off coupons on the discounted price, though.

You can also get a price adjustment on a Kohl’s purchase you make if the price drops within 14 days of your purchase. You’ll need to show your original receipt to prove that you paid more than the current price.

Clearance items don’t count for the price adjustment. However, if you buy something at full price and it goes on sale within two weeks, you can get the lower price.

You can also ask for a price adjustment if you forget to use your coupons.

6. Watch for Special Promotions

Keep an eye out for special promotions for extra savings. The weekly Kohl’s ad is a good place to find the cheapest items for the week.

Kohl’s sometimes has special night owl and early bird hours with special sales on certain items. Night owl sales take place on Fridays after 3 p.m. Early bird hours happen on Saturday mornings until 1 p.m.

The sale prices are usually available both online and in stores. Special pricing only lasts until a certain time.

For shoppers age 60 and older, Wednesday could be the best day to shop. Kohl’s offers a 15 percent senior discount on Wednesdays.

You can’t combine the senior discount with any other percentage-off coupons, but you can combine it with a dollar-off coupon, Kohl’s Cash, and Yes2You Rewards.

On Mondays, Kohl’s offers a military discount of 15 percent. Just like the senior discount, you can’t combine it with another percentage-off discount, but you can use other types of discounts.

7. Shop Clearance

The clearance section at Kohl’s is a fantastic way to save significantly on items. The selection is limited, but if you can find what you want, you can save up to 80 percent off the original price.

Watch for Gold Star Clearance events periodically. You’ll usually find these clearance deals toward the end of the season. That’s when you can usually find the biggest discounts on clearance items.

Even if it’s not a Gold Star Clearance event, it’s worth browsing the clearance racks every time you shop. The racks can be a little chaotic, but if you find something you love, you can get it at a fraction of the normal cost.
