Here is the Back to School Tax Free Weekend List for 2014!
This is great to use for Back to School shopping to save on sales tax for uniforms, school supplies, and more! Each state has rules on how much money is tax exempt along with purchases are NOT exempt. Make sure to read the fine print and mark that weekend down on your calendar for your state if they participate.
Louisiana is Friday, August 1st, & Saturday, August 2nd which is the first weekend in August. My son goes back on the 7th so this is perfect timing! In Louisiana you won’t have to pay the 4% sales tax but not good on luxury items, firearms, vehicles there is a list of exempt items.
Looks like many Southern states will participate the first weekend of August.

The tax free amounts vary on items. The discount is on each purchase regardless of having school age kids. The big stores automatically generate the tax free status. For example the electronics may be tax exempt for items up to $705 and shoes maybe up to $90. Most stores will post the tax exempt lists at the entrance. Stores will be SWAMPED
