Casino Gambling: 7 Key Tips for Beginners

Are you getting ready for your first big trip to the casino?

Whether you’re preparing for a trip to Las Vegas or you’re a local ready to hit the slots for the first time, it doesn’t matter. When it comes to the casino, there is a right way and a wrong way to gamble.

The truth is, casino gambling is an entirely different ballgame than your standard sporting or online betting. That being said, it’s always beneficial to be as prepared as possible before taking your first steps into the casino.

Without an appropriate level of preparation, you’re all the more likely to lose your money quickly or disobey casino etiquette. When you have a few key tips and tricks under your belt, you can look forward to an incredibly fun and enjoyable experience at the casino.

If you’re gearing up to see if luck is on your side, you’re going to want to read this. We’re uncovering seven key gambling tips for beginners. While these tips are not exactly a guaranteed route to winning, they’re certain to come in handy during your time.

1. Set a Budget

First and foremost, you’re going to want to establish a strict budget before even stepping foot into the casino.

So, ask yourself this: How much money are you willing to lose?

If you’re comfortable losing $100, this will become your official budget. Once you have created this budget, be certain to avoid straying from this budget. Some newcomers find it helpful to take out that exact amount of money in cash and leave then the credit at home.

All in all, it’s imperative to create a budget that is both responsible and realistic. In order to do this, consider how long you’re likely to be at the casino and how much money you will not regret losing the following morning.

2. Begin with Simple Games

If you’re entirely new to gambling, it’s best to begin with simple games that require minimal strategy.

This could be anything from blackjack to roulette. In these games, the rules are relatively simple and easy for beginners to understand.

When the rules are straightforward you’re all the more likely to sit back, relax and enjoy the game. These games are often more entertaining for beginners as there’s very little confusion with rules or trying to decipher different strategies.

3. Partner with a Friend

Do you have a friend that eats, sleeps, and breaths all things gambling?

You know, the friend that knows all of the rules, thrives under pressure and keeps up with the latest 4d results for online gambling? When it comes to your first time gambling, this friend is your knight in shining armor.

After all, if it’s your first time gambling, you’re surely going to want to avoid doing so by yourself. Instead, make a point in sticking with these friends that are well-versed in gambling.

From here, you can watch and learn from afar as they play and explain to you the various games. Once you feel more confident in the rules, you can transition into playing as an individual.

4. Minimize Your Alcohol Intake

Did you know that alcohol addiction and gambling addiction go hand-in-hand?

Studies have found that those suffering from alcohol addiction are far more likely to develop a gambling addiction. In fact, one study found that the risk of developing a gambling addiction increases 23-fold for those that are affected by alcoholism.

When we consider the above statistic, it’s simple to understand why limiting your alcohol intake at a casino is absolutely crucial. Not only will you be able to focus more on your strategy, but you’re also going to avoid making rash decisions and costly mistakes.

5. Follow Casino Etiquette

If you’re going to be at the casino, it’s important to follow casino etiquette and respect the rules.

Without doing so, you’re not going to be popular with either the employees or your fellow players. In some circumstances, you might even be asked to leave or banned from further entry.

Remember, the casino is an environment by which many of the players take incredibly seriously. If they witness your poor behavior, many will not hesitate to have you escorted.

Don’t be shy to ask your more seasoned friends or even the employees about the rules and etiquette at that specific casino. While there are general rules, each and every casino is slightly different.

6. Ask Questions!

When it comes to gambling for the first time, don’t hesitate to ask questions!

Remember, the dealer is there to help you. They’re not gambling with their own money and they have no interest in who ultimately wins the pot. This means that they are in a position o provide you with some details on gaming rules and direction.

In less serious scenarios, your neighbor will also be willing to outline some basic rules for you or even provide you advice.

7. Be Mindful

At the end of the day, it’s important to ensure that you’re being mindful.

There’s no denying that gambling is a fun, exciting and enjoyable hobby. And, for the lucky, gambling can even result in serious financial winnings.

That being said, it’s important to know when it’s time to walk away. The best way to do so is to establish a strict budget and a timeline in which you’re allowing yourself to be there. Once either of these factors presents themselves, it’s best to see yourself out.

It’s important to avoid any destructive pattern of believing that you will continue to win. While there’s no denying this is possible, it’s an unhealthy and costly habit to fall into.

Remember, gambling is supposed to be a fun and exciting process! However, it’s imperative that you’re extremely careful to ensure that it’s a hobby rather than a way of life or an addiction.

Your First Casino Gambling Experience

Are you considering joining the ranks of Americans that enjoy casino gambling from time-to-time?

Today, over 80 percent of Americans report gambling on a yearly basis. Of these Americans, even a lucky few will be fortunate enough to win the big bucks. However, most people simply flock to the casino to enjoy a fun night of gambling, cocktails and time with friends.

Regardless of winning or losing, casinos are an incredibly fun and exciting experience for most.  If you’re really looking to make the most out of your first time at the casino, you’re going to want to go for the big guns: Las Vegas.

Medications for Less: 6 Clever Ways to Save Money on Prescriptions

Are you struggling to afford your prescription drugs?

If yes, then you’re not alone. Brand name prescription drugs can end up costing you thousands of dollars per year, putting a serious dent in your budget. It’s time to think smart and use every resource that’s available to you.

Keep reading for 6 of the most clever ways to save money on prescriptions.

1. Use an Online Pharmacy

Pharmacies pass on overhead expenses to the customers who buy prescriptions from them. Online pharmacies have fewer of these.

This translates into a reduction in prescription costs for you. Even better: you’ll save yourself the hassle of trekking to the pharmacy and back.

To do this, search online for a licensed pharmacy that’ll deliver to your neighborhood. If you have one, check your insurance company allows your chosen pharmacy. Some specify which pharmacies you can use, so it’s important you make sure.

You also need to verify your chosen pharmacy’s credentials. An online pharmacy should:

  • Be licensed and practice in the US
  • Have a VIPPS – a ‘Verified Pharmacy Practice Site’
  • Need you to provide a prescription so they can refill your drugs
  • Have an actual pharmacy with real staff you can contact

Always do your due diligence and make sure that the pharmacy is legitimate. Saving a few dollars isn’t worth the risks of using an unlicensed pharmacy.

2. Ask For Generic/Low-Cost Medicines

When prescribing medicine, your budget isn’t always taken into consideration. You won’t always be able to get generic drugs, but you should always tell your doctor that you want low-cost options.

Many drugs come in branded and generic versions. Generic drugs have the same active ingredients but may have minor differences such as fillers.

Generic options are just as effective but are often substantially cheaper. You can find out more here.

If the drug you use doesn’t have a generic option, don’t worry. Chat to your doctor about other drug options for you.

A brand name drug is sometimes suggested because it needs fewer check-ups. But it’s your choice how you manage your condition.

A good example is anticoagulation drugs Xarelto and Coumadin. The new, brand-named Xarelto is often prescribed over the older Coumadin.

Both are for the same issue and do the same thing. Coumadin needs regular blood tests and follow-ups though, and Xarelto doesn’t.

Xarelto comes in at around $6,000 per year but Coumadin is only around $200 per year. If the follow-up appointments aren’t an issue, you can save a lot of money going for the generic options.

3. Use an HSA/FSA

Find out if your employer offers employees a flexible spending account (FSA) or a health spending account (HSA). Both HSAs and FSAs allow you to pay health expenses with pre-tax earnings. This includes prescriptions, which could see huge savings for you.

You need to know that these two accounts have different rules. You can contribute to your FSA or HSA and your employer will likely contribute too.

But, at the year’s end, FSAs don’t roll over. This means if you have money you haven’t used, you’ll lose it.

4. Get a NACo Card

Get yourself a NACo card. It offers access to a free prescription discount service.

Not all counties have signed up, so check that your county is a participant. For those of you who aren’t insured or don’t have coverage for prescriptions, you can save up to 24%.

It’s easy to get! Visit the NACo website and fill out the online form. Put in your zip code to check it covers your area. If so, you’ll get the NACo card delivered to your home for free.

5. Find a Prescription Assistance Program

It’s common for pharmaceutical companies to have prescription assistance programs (PAPs). These are most useful if you’re under-insured or uninsured. PAPs normally cover very high-cost drugs, and pharmaceutical companies use PAPs to make them available for public use.

If you don’t know which pharmaceutical company makes your drugs, look it up online. Put in the name of your drug and you’ll be able to find out if there’s a PAP available, as well as the pharmaceutical company offering it. If it’s available, it’ll tell you what requirements there are and how you apply.

The savings aren’t small. For example, if you need the antibiotic Zyvox, without insurance, you could be paying $2,000. By applying for the Zyvox PAP, if you meet requirements, you could see that out-of-pocket cost drop to zero.

6. Get Medicare Extra Help

If you’re on a Medicare Part D plan (Medicare’s prescription drug plan), you can get price breaks if eligible. This is via the Extra Help program. This means you’ll pay no more than $2.65 for generic drugs and $6.60 for the named brands.

You might be eligible if you or a family member have received:

  • A Medicare notice telling you that you’ve qualified
  • An Extra Help auto-enrollment from Medicare
  • Medicaid help and/or Supplemental Security Income
  • Social Security “Notice of Award” for Extra Help

If your income falls below a designated level, you should receive confirmation that you’re eligible for Extra Help. If you don’t qualify, you can find a Medicare D plan that helps meet your prescription coverage needs. By checking out the Medicare Plan Finder, you can compare co-pays and coverage programs.

Be Savvy and Save Money on Prescriptions

So there you have it: if you follow these 6 tips, you’ll be sure to save money on prescriptions. You have to be clever and think smart.

Take advantage of those programs like Medicare Extra Help, NACo, and PAPs. Consider asking your doctor for generic drug options instead of brand name drugs. They’ll work as well as their more expensive counterparts!

Going mail-order can help too, which cuts down on overhead pharmacy charges. Even your employer could help with useful savings account programs.

Know what’s at your disposal and use it. It would be rude not to!

Can You Save Money By Using an Online Pharmacy?

50% of the US population takes at least one prescription drug. That might seem like a lot of people but it’s a steep reduction from years past (2013 saw 70% of people taking prescriptions).

While it’s nice to know that so many citizens that need medication are able to get their hands on it, the relationship that Americans have with prescribed drugs isn’t all candy canes and rainbows. Drugs are one of the chief contributors to a person’s medical debt, which is the number one reason why people declare bankruptcy every year.

In an effort to bring down the cost burden that prescriptions carry, we’re seeing patients weigh online pharmacy options to try and get a better deal. But can you really save money at an online pharmacy?

This post breaks down everything that you need to know about getting your prescription filled over the internet.

How Big Is the Prescription Drug Problem?

Before we dive into what an online pharmacy is and how they may be able to solve people’s prescription drug problems, it’s important that we understand the scope of the drug pricing issue.

Each year, people in the United States spend a whopping 325 billion dollars on prescriptions. That’s about $1,000.00 for every man, woman, and child living in the country. The massive burden of that cost has led to 33% of the population not being able to afford the potentially life-saving medication that they need.

What Constitutes an Online Pharmacy?

Now that you know the rough scale of the US prescription pricing problem, let’s discuss online pharmacies.

Note that online pharmacies in the context of this post refer to pharmacies that operate solely online, at least domestically. That means that refilling your prescription through Walgreen’s online portal doesn’t qualify.

In many cases, online pharmacies that Americans use are based abroad. There are some internet-based organizations that carry US address though.

Can an Online Pharmacy Save You Money?

The million-dollar question is whether or not an online pharmacy can save you money on your prescriptions. That answer is that it could… Maybe.

Online pharmacies vary in their prices (the same way that prices vary between traditional pharmacies). That means that one pharmacy could offer you a lower price on medication than you’re used to while another pharmacy could be offering your medicine for pain, diabetes, or anything else at a markup.

Here are a few reasons why, generally speaking, you could save by using online pharmacies.

Less Overhead

Pharmacies that operate solely online enjoy significantly lower overhead costs when compared to brick-and-mortar pharmacies. Brick-and-mortars need to lease a building, purchase brick-and-mortar insurance policies and need to hire more people to manage in-house customers.

Those savings can be passed onto consumers.

Better Prices Are an Important Selling Point

The biggest sell that online pharmacies have when attracting consumers is the fact that they have better prices than your local pharmacy. If they don’t have that benefit to share with customers, why would anybody choose to do business with them over a local pharmacy that they know and trust?

International Possibilities

With many online pharmacies being based abroad, they can offer their domestic drug prices to US citizens. In almost all cases, international territories enjoy better drug prices than the United States. This is due to market conditions and government regulations.

What to Watch Out For

Given the potential cost benefits that online pharmacies carry, it might seem like a no-brainer to try buying from one. Unfortunately, there are caveats when buying drugs online that can complicate the situation.

Here are three primary things to keep in mind before buying:

Legitimacy

There are hundreds of online pharmacies that are illegitimate. Best case scenario, these pharmacies will sell you good drugs without being licensed to do so. Worst case scenario, these pharmacies will steal your money or give you ineffective or poisonous drugs.

Any online pharmacy that’s legally permitted to sell in the United States needs to be licensed by the Department of Health. You can find the full USDOH list of licensed pharmacies here.

Shipping Controlled Substances Across Borders

When you order a prescription from a legitimate pharmacy abroad, you do it to save money. Unfortunately, the federal government may assume that you’re doing it to circumvent drug laws.

It is a federal offense to ship controlled substances across United States borders. Many people do it, especially when buying drugs from the UK or Canada, but if you get caught, you could go to jail. For that reason, no matter how safe or cheap drugs are that you can buy abroad, you run a serious risk when importing prescriptions.

Drugs Without a Prescription

Any online pharmacy that’s worth doing business with will require that you send them your prescription before they send you drugs. If you found a fast and loose pharmacy that doesn’t ask for your prescription, stay away.

These pharmacies are breaking the law and shouldn’t be trusted with providing you safe medication.

Look Into Online Pharmacy Options and See If You Can Save

Not everybody that weighs their online pharmacy options is going to save money. Some do, though, and for that reason, we recommend looking into what’s available to you.

Again, just be wary when buying drugs abroad. Paying less for your prescriptions may not be worth the possibility of jail time.

Sustainable Fashion: 7 Ways to Upcycle Clothes (and Why You Should)

It’s no secret that much of the fashion industry isn’t too concerned with environmental consciousness. Almost three-fifths of clothing will wind up in an incinerator or landfill within a year of production. In 2013, the Environmental Protection Agency reported that 12.8 million tons of textile waste were in our landfills.

What’s an environmentally-conscious fashion lover to do when their closet no longer brings them joy, then? Upcycle clothes, of course.

Reusing your old articles of clothing and breathing new life into them is both wallet-friendly and better for the environment. You won’t need to take trips to the mall or online shop when you have an infinite amount of options already in your closet.

If you’re wondering how to upcycle clothing, keep reading. We’ve outlined seven unique ways to repurpose the clothes in your closet. All you need to bring is your creativity, an open mind, and a few craft supplies.

1. Bring out the Bleach

One of our favorite ways to upcycle clothes is by taking a little bit of bleach and getting artsy.

There are several techniques you can use to bleach your clothing. If you love drawing, you can buy a bleach pen and draw designs on your old shirts or pants. Think spiral designs, inspirational phrases, animals, or whatever else your heart desires.

If you’re less artistically inclined, pair your bleach with any stencil from Hobby Lobby or Michael’s. Stencils come in all shapes and sizes so the skies the limit here.

One thing to keep in mind before taking bleach to your clothing is the fabric. Natural fibers like cotton and silk will be easier to customize with bleach than others.

2. Raid Your Significant Other’s Closet

If your husband or boyfriend has a closet full of clothes he never wears, they’re fair game for you to upcycle.

All you need is an oversized shirt, a pair of scissors, and a bit of creativity and the possibilities are endless.

Their side of the closet is especially fun to raid if you have little ones to dress, too. You can turn a large men’s shirt into a little girl’s t-shirt dress with some scissors and a sewing machine.

3. Upgrade Your Denim

Jean anything is timeless. Though what’s on-trend may change with the seasons, it’s always a good idea to have some denim in your closet.

If you’re handy with scissors and a sewing machine, you can create almost anything from your old denim. Turn last season’s jeans into a make-up or tote bag.

If you’re particularly fond of your jean jacket, consider upgrading instead of upcycling. Turn it into a jean vest if you’re feeling punky. You can use the bleach trick above or even buy some iron on patches to give your jacket a new life, too.

4.  Get Lacy

Leftover lace or fabric scraps from other upcycling or craft projects can help transform your old clothes. Sew lace to the hem of a dress to make it more modest while adding vintage flair.

Add lace trim to your jeans or on the sleeves of your jean jacket to uplevel your denim. If you have a pair of holy pants destined for the trash, sew lace into the holes for a sexy peekaboo effect.

 5. Reuse Blankets

Upcycling isn’t a practice reserved just for clothing. Do you have an old blanket collecting mothballs in a closet somewhere in your home? It’s time to repurpose that beauty into something new and fashionable.

With an old wool blanket, you can create a homemade coat perfect for those cold winter months. You’ll be looking fashionable and staying warm with a few cuts of fabric and several stitches.

Blankets can also be repurposed into things like Christmas stockings, tote bags, throw pillows or winter hats.

6. Turn Tees Into Tanks

You don’t need to be a whiz with a sewing machine to make upcycling clothes a hobby. There are countless ways you can repurpose old t-shirts into tank tops with a pair of scissors and some ribbon.

The first step to transforming any tee into a tank is taking off the sleeves. Once the sleeves are off, you’ll need to decide what width you’ll want your new tank top straps to be. Don’t forget to determine how big you want the armholes to be, too.

The next steps will be different depending on what style tank top you’re going for. You can cut off the bottom two inches of the shirt and use this strip of fabric as a tie to make your tank a racerback.

Not a fan of the racerback silhouette? Maybe a crop top is more your style? That’s an easy DIY that’ll only take a few minutes to complete.

7. Give Your Sweaters a Second Chance

Just as with blankets, your old sweaters can be repurposed in infinite ways.

One of our favorite sweatshirt upcycle ideas is to transform them into other winter attire. Since sweaters are already designed for warmth, using them as a winter-specific upcycle is a logical choice. You can make them into warm hats, leg warmers, a mug cozie, a cowl, or even a pair of mittens.

Another great thing about repurposing sweaters is that their second life can extend beyond clothing. Make an autumn wreath by wrapping the fabric around a wreath ring. Wrap a vase for a chic take on winter table decor.

Do Your Part and Upcycle Clothes

Making clothes out of old clothes can be a fun way to spend your spare time. Not only are you helping the environment by not contributing to textile waste, but you’re also sharpening your crafting skills.

When you upcycle clothes, your closet will always feel fresh, and you won’t need to spend a dime. Repurposing clothes allows you to contribute to a more sustainable fashion industry that’s better for the world.

Starting Your Own CBD Business: Everything You Need to Know

The green wave is here! As more and more states rush to legalize medical and recreational marijuana, people are cashing in!

A recent survey found that about one out of every 7 people in the United States said they use cannabidiol products daily. So, there is a huge market for businesses who want a piece of the CBD pie!

But how do you start a CBD-related business? Is it even legal?

We will answer all your questions and more! Keep reading to learn all our secrets to starting a CBD business and how to keep it open for years to come!

CBD vs. THC

The first thing you should know before getting into a green business is the difference between CBD and its notorious cousin THC.

Yes, CBD and THC both come from similar plants, but they are not the same! THC is the active ingredient in the marijuana plant that gets you high. CBD comes from a cousin of the marijuana plant, the hemp plant, and doesn’t have any psychoactive effects.

You still get the pain, nausea, and anxiety-busting benefits you would get from THC, but without the intoxicated feeling. That’s why many people choose to use CBD during the day or if they do not want to get “high.”

The best part is that CBD, unlike its cousin THC, is 100% legal in the United States! You can carry and use CBD only products from coast to coast and know you are not breaking any laws, at the state or federal level!

If you are new to the herbal remedy business, CBD is less likely to make your attorney have a heart attack. You can file taxes like a normal business and use a normal bank (things that are not as easy to do for businesses who sell THC products because marijuana is illegal on a federal level).

How to Start a CBD Business

Before opening your doors, there are a few things you should know. It’s impossible to last in this business without doing your research first!

Red Tape and Legalities

Yes, CBD is legal, but that doesn’t mean you can be lax about keeping your business legal.

Though the FDA has legalized CBD and the hemp plant it comes from, it is very illegal to market CBD products as having medical benefits. Though we all know CBD helps with pain and nausea, you cannot make those claims to the customer.

Some municipalities have also started cracking down on food and drinks containing CBD. Since many businesses carry CBD edibles, it is important to know the regulations in your area!

You don’t want to open a business and get busted right away. It makes your business look bad to the police officers and to your customers who prefer to stay on the right side of the law.

If you aren’t sure if your business is following all the regulations for CBD sales, consult an attorney (or other CBD law specialists) to confirm that everything is on the up and up.

Pick (And Know About) Your CBD Products

There are tons of CBD products to choose from. Lotions, tinctures, vaping liquids, flower, and even edibles come with a dose of CBD goodness!

It’s important to know about the products you sell so you can explain to your customers how to use each product and which products are better for each person. Suggesting the wrong product to a customer is a sure way to make them quit using CBD (or at least not from your store)!

Even using a great product the wrong way can have adverse results. Make sure your customers have the most enjoyable experience possible with the products they buy from you!

For instance, specialists do not suggest vaping tincture with CBD because it will taste awful and could destroy your vape pen. There are CBD products meant to go in a vaporizer and inhaled, but you should put tinctures on the tongue or in the cheek.

Make sure you have a variety of products and strains so you can cater to a wider range of clients. The more customers who can find the products they need, the more money you make!

Be Competitive

The way to set yourself apart from other CBD retailers is to have the highest quality products and the most knowledgeable and professional staff. Doing this will make your business look good for both potential customers and law officials.

Many of your clients will have tons of knowledge about CBD and the products available. If your staff knows less about CBD then the customers, they will not come back for a repeat visit!

Be transparent and label everything so it is easy to read and know what is in the product, how it’s used, and what it’s supposed to do for the customer. The more information you can give the better. Some customers are brand new to using herbal remedies.

The CBD world is also changing fast. It is important to keep up with any changes to the products or relevant laws to make sure you and your staff have the latest info.

Convert Green Buds to Greenbacks!

We hope this article has helped you get your CBD business off the ground. Starting any new business is risky, but you can’t get big rewards without a little risk!

The CBD market is a new frontier with tons of potential, so you should jump on the bandwagon now! If you wait too long, there will be too many companies in the market and not much money to go around.

Frugal Fashion: 12 Amazing Tips on How to Shop for Clothes While Spending Less

The average family spends just shy of $2000.00 per year on clothes. That’s enough money for most Americans to take a vacation to Disney World!

We get that clothes take priority over Mickey Mouse photo ops and fun rides but understand that you don’t have to be spending anywhere near $2000.00 on clothes on an annual basis. There are a number of clever strategies that everyday people like you use to save extraordinary amounts of cash on everything from shoes to shirts.

Curious to know what these awesome savings strategies are? Well, you’re about to find out.

Below, we share our top tips on how to shop for clothes without breaking the bank!

1. Be Open to Hand Me Downs

When you were a kid, you probably dreaded getting your sibling’s or your cousin’s hand me downs. As an adult, you should be more open to digging through people’s used clothes to see if there are any good pieces in the pile.

After all, one person’s trash is another person’s treasure, right?

Let people that are roughly the same size as you know that you’re always looking for interesting pieces of clothing to experiment with and that you’d appreciate it if they’d drop their bags of used garments on your doorstep before they go to the dumpster.

You can even sweeten the deal by saying that you’ll donate anything that you don’t use!

2. Go Thrift Shopping

Every how to shop for clothes affordably guide is going to recommend that you go thrift shopping. That’s because thrift shopping rocks!

You’d be shocked by how many high-end pieces get donated and go on a $2.00 rack at your local Goodwill or Salvation Army store.

Also, most thrift shops donate proceeds to charitable causes. That means that you can upgrade your closet for pennies on the dollar while improving someone else’s quality of life. Talk about a great deal!

3. Go to Overstock Stores Before Outlets

There are overstock stores and there are outlet stores. Understanding the difference between those two places is instrumental to you saving big time on clothes.

Outlets, for the most part, aren’t a very good deal. Most outlets advertise insane markdowns but those markdowns are based on MSRP which doesn’t always turn out to be a better deal than you’d get at a standard mall. Also, many outlet malls have lower quality clothing that were produced specifically for outlet retailers which won’t last you long.

On the other hand, overstock stores are an excellent value! Overstock stores like Marshalls or Ross legitimately get name brand retailers to sell them their overstock inventory at a discounted rate. They then pass those discounts onto you.

Consequently, you can find high-quality garments at overstock stores for prices that will make your jaw drop!

4. Hit the Sales Rack

Any time that you walk into a store, go straight to the sales rack. Sure, most items on a sales rack won’t be what you’re looking for. Occasionally though, you’ll bump into an incredible deal that you would have missed out on if you hadn’t of looked.

Can’t find the sales rack at your local store? Don’t be afraid to ask a store associate where you can find it.

Floor managers sometimes tuck sales racks into the back of their stores to let their more expensive merchandise enjoy the limelight.

5. Click the Clearance/Sales Tab on Websites

Do you like shopping online? If you do, you’re not alone. About 10% of all sales are generated over the internet. As it turns out, your how to shop for clothes at discounted prices ambitions can be achieved over the web if you know where to look.

Our recommendation is to head over to the “clearance” or “sale” tab on clothing sites like Lulu & Rose which should either be at the top or bottom of a homepage.

There are usually several excellent deals in online clearance sections that you can’t find in a store’s brick-and-mortar locations.

6. Buy out of Season Fashion

Don’t buy cute coats in late November. Don’t buy sexy swimsuits in May. Instead, buy swimsuits in the winter and coats during the summer.

While that may seem counterintuitive, retailers try to clear out fashion that’s not in season to make room for more relevant inventory by offering huge discounts. Stock up on all of the cheap, out of season fashion that you can get your hands on and debut it to the public once the appropriate weather blows into town.

7. Sell Your Old Stuff to Save on New Purchases

While this isn’t a way to explicitly save money while buying new clothes, it achieves the same end. If you have clothes that are in good condition but don’t fit you anymore, you can actually sell those garments and use the money to discount the new stuff that you buy.

Popular places/platforms to sell your old fashion on include Poshmark, The Buffalo Exchange and eBay.

8. Never Shop Without Coupons

There’s a coupon for just about anything that you buy in life. Especially when you’re shopping online.

Before you check out that shopping cart on Amazon or on Nike, scour the web to see if there’s a coupon that you can apply to your purchase to bring down your price. To make things even easier, you can use applications like Honey which will source coupons on your behalf.

9. Take Care of Your Threads

If you buy a shirt for $15.00 and you ruin it in one year, that shirt cost you $15.00 per year to own. If you bought the same shirt, took care of it and it lasted you four years, it cost you $3.75 per year to own.

Most people don’t think about clothing prices that way but you definitely should. Take better care of your threads and they become cheaper to own over time.

10. Be Honest About When You Need to Go Shopping

Another way to bring down the amount of money that you spend on clothing is by being honest about when you need to shop. We get that shopping can make for a great release after a stressful workweek. But how about finding another way to take the edge off like exercising?

We’re willing to bet that if you need a new outfit to wear, you could mix and match old pieces to create a fresh look. If that’s true, get creative instead of pulling out your credit card.

11. Don’t Buy Pricey Workout Clothes

Niche clothing outfits like “yoga clothes” or “workout clothes” are some of the biggest scams of all time.

In reality, you could use any large shirt and comfy sweats/shorts to work out or do yoga. Since that mindset isn’t going to make retailers money, they’ve constructed this idea that everything you do requires a specialized outfit.

Ditch that nonsense and stop being so concerned about how you look all of the time. If you can take a more pragmatic attitude when it comes to the kinds of outfits that you wear, you’ll save a boatload of money.

12. Check the Men’s Section

Ladies, we’ve got some bad news for you… Your clothes tend to be a lot more expensive than men’s clothes.

Why is that? A number of reasons, some of which have to do with how much women are willing to pay for clothing in comparison to men. The good news is that there’s no reason why you need to buy lady’s clothing!

If you’re looking for something androgynous like sweats, a hoodie or a shirt, mosey over to the men’s section to see what they have available. We’re willing to bet that you’ll find something that looks great for at least 20% off of what you would have paid in the women’s section.

Europe By Car: How to Plan a European Road Trip on a Budget

Do you yearn to spend a summer wandering through Europe? The idea that you can go wherever you want. Stay for as long as it feels right. Blend with the locals to get a true European experience.

Does your wanderlust have you dreaming of European roadways, cafes, and culture? It all sounds great until you imagine how to actually pay for it.

Don’t give up on those dreams of days spent wandering European streets and sites. You can see Europe and do it on a tight budget.

The secret is to see Europe by car. Car and not train? Yes, learn how to travel through Europe by car and stick to a budget too

Car Choice

What better way to road trip across Europe than to pack up the car and take to the open road? The most obvious question is what car to use. If you don’t live in Europe and have your own car, then you need to find access to a car to use for an extended period of time.

If you are under the age of 25, many car rental companies put steep fees to rent to do a rental.

One option is to do a short term lease. Peugeot Open Europe offers short terms leases for a minimum of three weeks. To take advantage of their low cost, short term lease you must not be a resident in the European Union and be at least 18 years of age.

Things to consider when traveling by car through Europe are how to insure the car. This is easy to do with a short term lease. You might also want to include roadside assistance since you will be driving in unfamiliar territory.

You should also consider getting an international driver’s permit. This license certifies you to drive internationally. It often makes car rentals and leases easier to acquire. Learn more here about how to obtain an international driver’s permit.

When selecting a car, think about the fact that you are going to spend significant time in it. Will you want to sleep in it? How much space do you need to carry your belongings?

Survival Things to Consider

Once you have secured a car, there are other things to think about before taking off driving across Europe. A car gives you freedom in a way that train schedules do not. But there are still some benefits to thinking about how you will get around Europe and live while doing it.

Where Will You Sleep

Sure, you can use the car to wander from country to country, city to city. But where do you plan to sleep? For some looking to live on an uber tight budget, they plan to sleep in the car too.

While this certainly is not the optimal situation for comfort, it does save money. You have to consider where can I park my car safely while I sleep. Some countries do not allow this, so be sure to consider local laws.

Other options for inexpensive sleeping include camping or hostels. Both are less expensive than hotels but still may require planning ahead with reservations.

Food and Drinks

Let’s face it, food in Europe is amazing. You want to be able to splurge on the gelato or pain au chocolat. But food and drinks can be real budget busters, so you need to do some planning.

Plan to pack snacks and bring refillable water bottles. Buying a bottle of water or a snack each time you make a stop can add up fast. You might consider packing a “kitchen” box in your car. Then you can pack:

  • A wine opener (it is Europe, after all)
  • A can opener
  • A few plates, cups and cutlery
  • A knife for cutting cheese and bread (again, it is Europe)

Being able to buy food from a farm market or small grocery will greatly save over eating meals in restaurants.

Set a Budget

If you want to do this inexpensively, you have to set a budget for yourself and keep it. If traveling around by car, gas will be the biggest expense. You should plan for the unexpected if you are traveling by car. You need to have a cushion in your budget for the potential flat tire or dead battery.

Consider how much you can spend. Subtract the cost of the car and expected gas based on the mileage you hope to cover.

Even if you plan to sleep in the car some, you will occasionally need to pay for a place to stay so you can shower and do laundry.

Establish a daily food budget. It will keep from making those impromptu purchases. Nothing wrong with a little splurge, as long as it doesn’t happen over and over again wreaking havoc on your budget. The food budget will also force you to plan ahead by using local markets to get food to travel with you.

You should also plan for some money in your budget for admission fees. Some of the sights you can’t miss while traveling, think the Colosseum or a ride down the Seine in Paris, will have fees.

Outline a Route, Be Ready to Change It

The great thing about traveling by car is the flexibility it provides. You do not have to adhere to the strict schedules of using mass transportation. You can see where the road takes you and make spontaneous decisions to stay longer or investigate a place you find.

Having said that, consider when a place will have the most tourists. When will holidays affect what you can see?

Make a dream list of where you want to see. Then plan the best route to navigate to those places. It might save gas and time to prevent you from doing a bunch of zigzagging if you don’t have a plan.

Pack Strategically

It’s easy to think, you can pack all you want since you have a car versus getting on a plane or train. Remember, your car will be your home on your travels and you want it to have space and be organized.

You will need to access things without having to unpack the whole car every time you want to get a sweater out of your bag. One suggestion is to pack boxes that represent different rooms in your home. You have a kitchen box with eating necessities. You have your bathroom box with a towel and toiletries.

If you plan to sleep in your car, think about what you will need to for comfort while you sleep.

Europe By Car, the Adventure of a Lifetime

No matter where you sleep, wandering your way around Europe is a fantastical adventure. It can be made even better with some planning and foresight. See Europe by car with an international driver’s permit, a car and some adventure in your soul.
