10 Bath Products That Will Instantly Relax You

bath productsWhile diet and exercise are some of the keys to a healthy life, the importance of relaxation can’t be understated.

When you’re stressed, tired, overwhelmed, or just need some good old ‘me time’, there’s nothing quite like having a long soak in the bath. As well as having a calming effect, baths have a number of benefits to the body. In fact, they’ve been proven to help with muscle soreness, breathing, and even hormone balance.

How do you like your bath? Creamy? Bubbly? Therapeutic?

No matter what your preference is, we’ve got something for you. Here are our favorite oils, bombs, creams, and crystals for you to try.

1. Lush Twilight Bath Bomb

For bath bombs, Lush is the best in the business. They’re each made with natural products from sustainable sources, and absolutely never tested on animals.

Even if you’re not an eco-warrior or animal activist, you can benefit from their bubbly bath bombs. There’s something incredibly satisfying about watching them fizz away in the water, and they fill your bath with some crazy colors, too. Our favorite bath bomb for pure relaxation is Twilight, which will turn your bath a shimmering shade of deep purple.

It’s made with balancing and calming lavender oil, which is commonly used to treat insomnia. It’s designed to calm your mind, soothe your body, and aid restful sleep.

2. Ancient Minerals Magnesium Bath Flakes

If you’re looking for medicinal bath products, give Ancient Minerals a try. A bath with magnesium chloride flakes provides detoxifying pain relief and cell restoration. It also improves skin hydration and decreases inflammation.

While this may sound similar to the effects of Epsom salts, there are distinct differences between the two. To learn about how Epsom salts and magnesium flakes differ, click for more.

3. Molton Brown’s Rose Absolute Bath Oil

This rose-scented bath oil is infused with blackcurrant and geranium, so if you love floral aromas, this is a great choice for you.

It also contains argan oil, which leaves both your hair and skin silky and smooth.

4. Bath & Body Works Aromatherapy Massage Oil

You can’t go wrong with Bath & Body Works. This company is known for producing great ranges of bath products with incredible scents. That’s why it’s America’s biggest mall beauty brand.

Their aromatherapy massage oils come in a variety of forms, each one specially designed to ease a different problem. There’s ‘Sleep’ with lavender and cedarwood, ‘Focus’ with eucalyptus and tea, ‘Stress Relief’ with eucalyptus and mint, ‘Happiness’ with bergamot and mandarin, and ‘Comfort’ with vanilla and patchouli.

Whichever one you choose, you’re bound to have a relaxing bath. These oils release powerful but soothing scents, and absorb quickly into the skin to give it more moisture. Just lay back, relax, and breathe.

5. Aveeno Soothing Bath Treatment

If you’re suffering from irritating skin problems like eczema, insect bites, psoriasis or sunburn, this is the bath product for you.

Aveeno’s Soothing Bath Treatment is formulated to treat conditions like these, using colloidal oatmeal as the main ingredient. It will put a stop to burning and itching, moisturizing your skin and providing temporary protection.

This one comes in a powder form. Just pour it into warm water for a soothing, milky bath.

6. Burt’s Bees Therapeutic Bath Crystals

When you’re exhausted at the end of a long, hard day, these bath crystals are exactly what you need.

They’re created with natural sea salt, lemon oil and eucalyptus oil, which help to soothe tired, aching muscles. Slip into a bath with these, and your soreness will melt away. The eucalyptus will also open your airways, allowing you to breathe easily.

7. Body Shop Strawberry Body Polish

An exfoliating treatment is one of the most important bath products to have, and should be an essential part of your self-care routine. Most people forget to keep up with it when they’re rushing in and out of the shower every day, but bath time is the perfect opportunity to give your skin the time and attention it needs.

Buff your skin while you soak with The Body Shop’s Strawberry Body Polish.

It contains tiny microbeads which gently exfoliate, removing dead skin to make you softer and smoother. It also contains cold-pressed strawberry oil, which gives it that delightfully sweet scent.

If strawberry isn’t your thing, there’s a whole range of other fragrances, including festive, seasonal varieties like plum, frosted berries, and vanilla chai.

8. Aveda Stress-Fix Soaking Salts

Aveda promises to ‘transform your bath into a sanctuary from stress’ with these soaking salts. They combine mineral-rich salts with aromatic essential oils to provide a truly relaxing experience.

Scented with lavender and sage, these salts will melt your stress away. Just put two tablespoons into a warm bath and soak for as long as your heart desires.

Aveda is also a certified cruelty-free brand, which means they conduct no animal testing.

9. Laura Mercier Fresh Fig Honey Bath

This formula is great for a skin pampering session, with ingredients like shea butter, macadamia nut oil, almond, and oats. There’s also Pro-Vitamin B-5 for extra moisturizing properties.

The scent is a gorgeous blend of honey, fig, apricot, and ylang-ylang, which is both sweet and earthy.

It even comes with a wooden honey dipper. Dip it into the pot, twirl it under the tap, and watch the bubbles form.

10. Susanne Kauffman Oil Bath for the Senses

This bath oil contains a blend of ylang-ylang, patchouli, and lavender, which creates a calming aroma. As well as relaxing the senses, these essential oils also nourish your skin, leaving it hydrated, soft and supple.

Treat Yourself With Any of These Bath Products

With these bath products, you’re bound to emerge from the tub feeling relaxed, rejuvenated and stress-free. However, sometimes you need a little more than that.

When a bath just won’t cut it, consider getting a professional massage. As well as giving you some time out from your busy life, it can lower your blood pressure, ease aching muscles, and help you get a better sleep.

Why Every Woman Could Use a Massage for Relaxation

Who do you know that can’t get on board with a massage for relaxation? Once your therapist warms up their lotion or oil, it’s hello serendipity and goodbye to trouble.

Although a massage for relaxation will work wonders on your mind and soul, it can also heal your body.

If you’re able to find two 30-minute stretches of time throughout your work week, you’d be making a very wise choice in the name of self-care.

Those massages will target your muscles, immune system, hormones, blood circulation, and so much more.

That’s quite a bit for one hour a week! Let’s take a closer look.

Forget Your Tension Headaches

Do you suffer from tension headaches? Do you feel them start at the back of your neck and travel to other areas of your head?

Tension headaches hinder blood flow to the brain. And, as you know, massages are likely to include your neck.

That gentle kneading will help return some of the blood flow to your brain.

Research indicates headache sufferers are likely to experience diminished pain after just one week of regular massage therapy.

Boost Your Immunity

A study completed by Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles demonstrated a Swedish massage’s effect on inflammatory and autoimmune diseases.

After 45-minutes with a therapist, patients’ immune systems were found to be functioning at higher levels.

Perhaps, in time, you can swap out one of those 30-minute massages for a 45-minute Swedish massage.

You’d simply be adding your immune system to the long list of systems in your body that are reaping the benefits of regular massage therapy.

Increase Your Flexibility With a Massage for Relaxation

If you’re new to yoga and want aid in your flexibility, mix a massage for relaxation into your weekly routine.

Perhaps you’re adding meditation into your morning activities. Mastering that lotus position is tough if you’re not fully flexible yet. Regular massage therapy will help you get there.

Boost That Seratonin

You know how a good run can leave you feeling on top of the world? That serotonin boost is a blessing, a natural high provided by the body.

Well, you don’t have to let that rush end with your workout. Studies continue to support the notion that two 30-minute massages per week increase serotonin levels by nearly 30%.

Lower Your Blood Pressure

Is your doctor showing increased concern for your blood pressure? In Korea, a study was carried out on patients who were about to enter cataract surgery.

Evidence found that every patient who received a hand massage prior to surgery went in with lower blood pressure.

What better way to start surgery? And why not take advantage of this perk in our every day lives, too?

Promote Better Sleep With a Massage for Relaxation

Relaxation seems to go hand in hand with sleep. That lovely serotonin also goes hand in hand with melatonin, the hormone that tells the brain it’s time to slow down.

A massage for relaxation is so perfect and wholesome for the body that it manages to strike a perfect balance between serotonin to enliven us and melatonin to make us feel more relaxed.

Patients who experienced regular massages reported near-instantaneous improvements in their sleep patterns.

Rid Yourself of Typing Strain

Are you part of the legions of workers who spend their days in front of a computer screen? Perhaps you can schedule one of those bi-weekly massages after work.

As your massage therapist moves from your back to your neck, they’re likely to make a stop at your arms, boosting circulation in that area and alleviating some of the strain your wrists are feeling.

Pick Your Fancy

You can spend these 30-45 minutes each week in any number of ways. A Swedish massage is sure to promote total body wellness with its gentle, long strokes.

A deep tissue massage will use slower, more forceful strokes to wash away some of those chronic aches and pains.

A sports massage will feel similar to a Swedish massage, with its primary goal to relieve and prevent sports-related injuries.

A prenatal massage can really make your pregnancy a far more enjoyable experience.

You don’t have to suffer through all those lower back and muscle aches and pains.

Hopefully, taking time for a weekly prenatal massage during pregnancy will ingrain it enough into your weekly routine that you’ll keep it up, even after your little one arrives.

A Massage for Relaxation Can Even Be Done At Home

Don’t let the healing effects of a massage stop when you leave the spa.

You can learn to give yourself a massage for relaxation at home. Target areas include your hands and neck – two areas that work nonstop for us throughout the day.

Our feet and knees also do a lot of the work for those of us who don’t get much of a chance to sit throughout the day.

If that’s the case, you can certainly learn to massage your feet at home or immerse them in a healing foot soak.

Why not cap off your day with some time spent in a massage chair? We all love our shows, so why not heal the body at the same time?

An OSIM massage chair, for example, will work out those sore muscles right from the comfort of your own home.

Make An Appointment Today

Although a massage for relaxation may seem like an indulgence, it’s so much more than that.

We probably don’t consider yoga for back pain or meditation an indulgence, but all three of these activities have similar, positive effects on our bodies.

They promote relaxation, release stress, and boost our immune systems.

While we want to give all of ourselves to our families, our jobs, and our overall contributions to those around us, taking one short hour every week for a relaxing massage will only make us stronger.

Why not make an appointment today and commit to total body health and happiness? You and everyone around you will reap the rewards of these 30-minute moments of bliss.

Yoga For Back Pain: Relaxing Poses For The Working Mom

yoga for back painBack pain is a common nuisance in the lives of many Americans. In fact, 80% of all Americans will experience some sort of back pain during their lifetime. Back pain can have significant effects on the life of a person, especially a mother.

Forget the actual pregnancy, mothers are continually picking up their children and picking up after their children. It’s no surprise that chronic back pain is prevalent in mothers.

The good news is there’s a free solution that you can use on a daily basis to give your back great relief from pain: yoga.

With gentle movement through certain yoga poses you can increase the stability and agility of your back. We’ve done the heavy lifting for you and have compiled a list of the best poses to try:

Downward Dog

This may be one of the most basic and beginner yoga poses, but it can be an excellent pose for helping you get rid of neck and back pain. Keep your feet hip-distance apart and hands shoulder-distance apart. Don’t let your back arch more than it needs to.

Keep your heels pressed to the ground and press your back through the inner and outer parts of your legs with equal pressure. Pull your spine and head forwards to your hands. Keep your shoulders and back pulled tight as you press through your fingers and arms.

This stretch can provide a whole-body realignment. Take many breaths as you perform this pose.

If you aren’t experiencing any relief from this pose, you might want to ask yourself “Where is the best chiropractor near me?”, and then head swiftly in for an appointment.

Child’s Pose

Child’s Pose is the ultimate pose for back relaxation. Keep your knees wide and bring your knees together for a fantastic neutral stretch.  Let your head fall to the floor and put a yoga block or towel under your forehead for comfort.

Breathe slowly as you reach forward. This pose brings energy to the entirety of your spine as you release parts of the lumbar and vertebrates. The tension in your back will dissolve as you breathe through the pose.

If you need some guidance, many yoga studios have coupons and discounts for their classes! Yoga for back pain is easy to do in groups or in a solo setting.

Wall Plank For the Best Yoga For Back Pain

Stand in front of a wall at arm’s length, reach forward and plant your palms on the wall. Keep your spine long as you walk your legs back and fold at the waist. When you get to an L-shape, reach through your tailbone and legs towards the floor while you move your back and head towards the wall.

Holding this pose for a few minutes with deep exhales can give your lower back great relief. When it comes to yoga for back pain, this is one of the easiest and most beneficial!

Back pain can be painful and annoying. But yoga will not only give you physical relief, it can also center your heart, mind, and soul. As a mother, you deserve some extra self-love and care on a regular basis.
